VEHICLE BURGLARY INVESTIGATION –
JUVENILES CHARGED THROUGH VERIFIED COMPLAINT
BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports that verified complaints have been filed against two 13-year-old juveniles and a 16-year-old following an investigation related to vehicle burglaries in the Bayou L’Ourse area.
On May 8, 2020, deputies responded to a complaint of a vehicle burglary in Bayou L’Ourse. Upon investigation, deputies determined that unknown suspects had stolen items from other vehicles in the area also.
Detectives initiated an investigation and through collaboration with the Morgan City Police Department, determined that a suspect vehicle in the Bayou L’Ourse incidents may have also been involved in an auto theft in Morgan City, LA.
Subsequent to that, detectives attempted to stop a possible suspect vehicle, but the driver fled and later crashed near Labadieville, LA. A 16-year-old was identified as the driver and was charged by verified complaint with aggravated flight and illegal possession of stolen things.
As a result of continued investigation, both juveniles listed above and a third juvenile, age 13, were charged by verified complaint in connection with the Bayou L’Ourse vehicle burglary complaints.
The 16-year-old was accused by verified complaint of Attempted Simple Burglary and Criminal Trespass. Both 13-year olds were charged by verified complaint with Simple Burglary. One of the 13-year olds was charged with Criminal Trespass.
All three youths were released to the care of guardians.
