TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS, DRUG / GUN LAW VIOLATION, OBSTRUCTION
RANDALL GREGG HUGHES, JR. – WHITNEY MARIE WEMPREN
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Randall Gregg Hughes, Jr., 26, of 119 Pauline Street, Pierre Part, La. and Whitney Marie Wempren, 27, of 119 Mary Ann Street, Pierre Part, La., on numerous felony charges following a traffic stop near LA 401 and LA 400 on Saturday afternoon.
A uniformed deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and immediately noticed the driver and passenger switching positions. Upon further investigation it was determined that Randall Hughes was a convicted felon in possession of a rifle. A quantity of marijuana and assorted paraphernalia was located by a K-9.
As a result of the investigation, the suspects were charged as follows:
*Randall Gregg Hughes, Jr.
-Illegal use of Controlled Drugs in the Presence of Persons under Age 17
-Obstruction of Justice
-Possession of Marijuana (Third or Subsequent Offenses -Felony)
-Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
-Speeding
-Careless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
-Expired Motor Vehicle Inspection Tag
-No Drivers License
-Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
Hughes has a bond set at $40,000.
*Whitney Marie Wempren was charged as follows:
-Possession of Marijuana
-Possession of Illegal Drugs in the Presence of Persons under Age 17
-Obstruction of Justice
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
-Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
Wempren was incarcerated and later released on a $50,000 bond.
Randall Gregg Hughes remains incarcerated in the Assumption Parish Detention Center.
