TRAFFIC STOP – GUN LAW VIOLATIONS
MALCOLM J. OLIVER, JR. and JYRAH JAMARD BRINGIER
PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Malcom J. Oliver, Jr., 30, of 120 Vickie Drive, Napoleonville, LA and Jyrah Jamard Bringier, 28, of 120 First Street, Donaldsonville, LA, on felony firearms charges arising out of a Tuesday evening traffic stop near Plattenville, LA.
A uniformed patrol officer on assignment observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation at LA 70 Spur and LA 308 and initiated a stop of the vehicle.
The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Malcom J. Oliver, Jr. as well as the passenger, Jyrah Jamard Bringier.
During a computer check, it was determined that both occupants were convicted felons. It was also learned that Oliver was wanted on a fugitive warrant from Ascension Parish.
During an exterior walkaround, the deputy observed a handgun on the floorboard. A second handgun was seized from the passenger area.
Both subjects were arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center as follows:
-Malcom J. Oliver, Jr. was booked on charges of:
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Fugitive Warrant form Ascension Parish
*Driving Under Suspension
*Expired or Cancelled License Plate
*Expired Motor Vehicle Inspection Tag
*No Seat Belt
-Jyrah Jamard Bringier was booked on counts of:
*Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons
Both Oliver and Bringier remain incarcerated pending bond hearings.
During this stop, two large caliber handguns were seized.
