TRAFFIC STOP – GUN LAW VIOLATION

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Alton Cody Jamaal Jupiter. 29, of 238 Highway 401, Napoleonville, LA, on charges resulting from a Saturday evening traffic stop.

Late Saturday, a uniformed patrol deputy observed an east bound vehicle on LA 70 commit a traffic violation.

The deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, now identified as Alton Jupiter. While interviewing the driver, it was determined that Jupiter was driving with a suspended driver’s license.

Jupiter gave consent to the deputy to search his vehicle. During that process, the deputy observed a .40 caliber handgun and took possession of the firearm as a protective measure.

At some point, the Communications Division advised the deputy that Alton Jupiter was a convicted felon.

Alton Cody Jamaal Jupiter was arrested and booked on a charge of:

*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Jupiter was also issued citations for:

*Speeding
*Driving Under Suspension

Alton Jupiter was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
