TRAFFIC STOP – FELONY CHARGES – I.C.E. ARREST
AVERY JOHN LEWIS, JR.
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Avery John Lewis, Jr., 22, of 128 Blackwell Lane, Belle Rose, LA, on felony charges arising from a traffic incident near Paincourtville, LA early Tuesday morning.
A uniformed patrol deputy working the I.C.E. detail observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and attempted to stop the vehicle.
The driver engaged the deputy in a pursuit situation heading north on LA 308. The driver traveled towards Belle Rose and at some point reversed direction heading southbound on LA 308.
The suspect vehicle continued at a high rate of speed eventually turning west onto LA 70. The pursuit continued until the suspect crashed on LA 70 west of the Entergy Substation.
Upon investigating further, the driver was no longer on the scene. Sometime later Avery John Lewis, Jr. turned himself in at the parish detention center.
Avery John Lewis, Jr. was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Aggravated Flight from an Officer
*Resisting an Officer
*Careless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
*Speeding
*Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident
Avery John Lewis, Jr. remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
