TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG / WEAPONS LAW VIOLATIONS
DAWAYNE ANTHONY HARRIS and DARRELL JOSEPH HARRIS
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Dawayne Anthony Harris, 33 and Darrell Joseph Harris, 33, both of 150 Pecan Street, Bertrandville, LA, on felony drug and firearms violations following a traffic stop on LA 70 East late Saturday night.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed an eastbound vehicle, on LA 70 East, commit a traffic violation. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and attempted to have the driver exit the vehicle. The suspect now identified as Dawayne Anthony Harris refused to exit the vehicle. The deputy removed the suspect from the driver’s seat and noticed a bag containing suspected heroin on the front driver’s seat.
Upon checking with the Communication’s Division, it was determined that Dawayne Anthony Harris was wanted on a fugitive warrant in St. Martin Parish. He was immediately arrested.
The deputy then made contact with the passenger now identified as Darrell Joseph Harris. The deputy conducted a protective pat down for weapons of the body of Darrell Joseph Harris and did locate a quantity of Xanax (24 Doses). He was immediately arrested.
A search of the vehicle was conducted and a quantity of marijuana was located, along with a large caliber hand gun and a high-powered assault rifle, all of which were seized.
It was determined that Dawayne Anthony Harris was a convicted felon.
Dawayne Anthony Harris was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Illegal Use of Multiple Beam Road Lighting Equipment
*Fugitive Warrant – St. Martin Parish
Bond on Dawayne Anthony Harris was set at $75,000.
Darrell Joseph Harris was booked on charges of:
*Possession of Xanax
*Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
*Fugitive Warrants – Ascension Parish (3 Counts)
Bond on Darrell Joseph Harris was set at $40,000.
