TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – OBSTRUCTION –
ONRE SHANNON BATISTE
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Onre Shannon Batiste, 35, of 303 Pelican Street, Labadieville, LA, on felony drug charges arising from an incident near Napoleonville on Monday afternoon.
Deputies and narcotics officers on assignment observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and executed a stop of that vehicle. Contact was made with the driver now identified as Onre Shannon Batiste and proceeded to conduct an officer / violator interview. At some point, Onre Shannon Batiste attempted to swallow a quantity of controlled dangerous substances. Deputies were able to seize those substances. Deputies requested consent to search the suspect vehicle which was granted.
Onre Shannon Batiste was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of MDMA (Ecstasy)
*Possession of Marijuana
*Obstruction of Justice
*Detainer – Probation / Parole
Onre Shannon Batiste remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing on the drug and obstruction charges and was ordered held without bond on the probation parole detainer.
