TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
GARY DON MARTIN – I.C.E. UNIT ARREST
BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Gary Don Martin, 65, of 143 Bayou Bouef Road, Amelia, LA, on felony drug charges arising out of a Tuesday evening traffic stop on Cecelia Street in Bayou L’Ourse.
An I.C.E. Unit deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and executed a stop of the vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Gary Don Martin, and one passenger identified as John Lucas, Jr., 40, of 3890 First Lane, Vacherie, LA.
The deputy noted a strong odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. After interviewing both occupants, the deputy decided that additional investigation was warranted.
A check of Gary Don Martin’s drivers license indicated that he was operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license.
A consent to search the vehicle was obtained. During the search process, quantities of heroin, meth-amphetamine and marijuana were seized.
Gary Don Martin was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Facility on charges of:
*Possession of Heroin
*Possession of Meth-Amphetamine
*Driving Under Suspension
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
Gary Don Martin remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
John Lucas, Jr. was issued a misdemeanor summons for Possession of Marijuana and released.
