TRAFFIC STOP, DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – I.C.E. ARRESTS
CHAZ E. COLLINS, JARRON H. COLLINS
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Chaz E. Collins, 30, of 219 Brule Guillot Road, Thibodaux, LA and Jarron H. Collins, 32, of 155 Highway 998 Belle Rose, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop near LA 1 and LA 70 on Friday afternoon.
An I.C.E. assigned deputy observed a northbound vehicle with an equipment violation and conducted an investigative stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Chaz E. Collins and engaged the driver in an officer / violator interview. The deputy noted a pungent odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The deputy made contact with the passenger, identified as Jarron H. Collins. While interviewing Jaron H. Collins, the deputy observed suspected marijuana clippings on the outer clothing of his upper torso.
After interviewing both occupants, the deputy requested a K-9 unit at the scene. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances.
A subsequent search of the suspect vehicle resulted in the seizure of significant amounts of methamphetamine, marijuana, Heroin, assorted drug paraphernalia and a large caliber handgun. Both Chaz E. Collins and Jarron H. Collins are convicted felons.
Both were arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center as follows:

*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous
Substances
*Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*No Seat Belt

*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous
Substances
*Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Fugitive – Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office
Both Chaz E. Collins and Jarron H. Collins remains incarcerated pending bond hearings.
