TRAFFIC STOP, DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
MARK ANDREW RENTROP, JR. and BRITTANY BUSINELLE KELLY
BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Mark Andrew Rentrop, Jr., 28, of 349 Highway 663, Bayou L’Ourse, LA and Brittany Businelle Kelly, 20, of 157 Felicia Street, Bayou L’Ourse, LA, on felony drug charges following a traffic stop near Cecelia Street in Bayou L’Ourse on Saturday.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and proceeded to stop the vehicle.
The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Mark Andrew Rentrop, Jr., who was not in possession of a driver’s license.
The deputy also interviewed the passenger, now identified as Brittany Businelle Kelly.
The deputy noted both individuals to be nervous and continuously attempting to distract the deputy. The deputy noted behavior consistent with illegal drug activity.
At some point, the deputy obtained consent to search the vehicle. As a result of that search, the deputy seized quantities of heroin and meth-amphetamine.
Both Rentrop and Kelly were arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges as follows:
-Mark Andrew Rentrop, Jr:
*Possession of Heroin
*Possession of Meth-Amphetamine
*No Seat Belt
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
Rentrop remains incarcerated with a bond set at $11,000.
-Brittany Businelle Kelly:
*Possession of Meth-Amphetamine
*Possession of Heroin
Kelly was released on a $10,000 bond.
