TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Sheldon Simoneaux, 43, of 151 Daggs Street, Paincourtville, LA, on warrants filed as a result of a traffic stop on July 10, 2020.
On the aforementioned date, a uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of the violator. At some point, the vehicle stopped and the passenger fled on foot. The deputy engaged in a foot pursuit of the passenger and was able to detain him.
The passenger now identified as Sheldon Simoneaux, was in possession of a quantity of marijuana. Simoneaux was referred for treatment of a medical condition.
Warrants were obtained for Sheldon Simoneaux and he was arrested on Tuesday and booked into the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Marijuana (Third Offense Felony)
*Resisting an Officer
*Warrant – Failure to Appear on charges of sale, possession or distribution of a legend
Drug without a prescription
Sheldon Simoneaux remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
