TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – CHRISTOPHER P. DYSON
BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Christopher P. Dyson, 51, of 2820 Dubose Road, Rayne, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop Sunday afternoon on LA 662 in Bayou L’Ourse.
A narcotics officer on assignment observed a westbound vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Christopher P. Dyson and initiated an officer / violator interview. The deputy noted a pungent odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. After interviewing the driver, the deputy acting on driver consent retrieved suspected marijuana off of the center console cover inside of the vehicle. As the investigation continued, the deputy conducted a protective pat down search of Christopher P. Dyson. During that process, a quantity of methamphetamine was seized. Additional marijuana and drug paraphernalia were seized from the interior of the vehicle.
Christopher P. Dyson was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Careless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Christopher P. Dyson remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
