TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Erin Edward Smith, 41, of 833 Grangerville Road, Bell City, LA, on felony drug charges following a traffic stop on LA 70 at LA 70 Spur near Plattenville, LA on Wednesday morning.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and executed a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver and initiated an officer / violator interview. The deputy then interviewed the passenger, now identified as Erin Edward Smith. At the conclusion of the interview process, the deputy believed additional investigation was warranted. Based on numerous factors, the deputy applied for and was granted a search warrant for the suspect vehicle. During the execution of that search warrant, deputies seized a quantity of methamphetamine which was attributed to Erin Edward Smith.

Deputies arrested Erin Edward Smith and booked him into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Open Alcohol Container in a Motor Vehicle

Erin Edward Smith remains incarcerated with bond set at $10,000.
