TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
TITUS JAMAL RICHARD
PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Titus Jamal Richard, 36, of 109 Pugh Street, Paincourtville, LA, on felony charges arising from a traffic stop early Tuesday evening in Pierre Part.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Titus Jamal Richard and conducted an officer / violator interview. The deputy also interviewed the passenger.
The deputy noted a pungent odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle.
It was determined that Titus Jamal Richard was driving under a suspended driver’s license.
At the conclusion of interviews, the deputy believed further investigation was warranted. The deputy requested and was granted consent to search the suspect vehicle. During that search, a quantity of suspected marijuana was seized.
The deputy conducted a protective pat down search of Titus Jamal Richard. The suspect offered some resistance but was quickly restrained. Quantities of methamphetamine and Heroin were seized off of Richard’s person.
Titus Jamal Richard was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute
*Resisting an Officer
*Following too Closely
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Detainer – Probation and Parole
Titus Jamal Richard remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
