TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – ERIC RENA JONES

BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Eric Rena Jones, 45, of 228 Virginia Street, Belle Rose, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 308 North of Belle Rose, LA

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a northbound vehicle on LA 308 commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Tyjai Jones, 18, of 218 Daggs Street, Paincourtville, LA and commenced an interview of Jones. The deputy then made contact with the passenger identified as Eric Rena Jones and conducted an interview of him as well.

At the conclusion of those interviews, the deputy believed that additional investigation was warranted.

The deputy requested consent to search and was granted permission to search the vehicle.

Deputies believe that at some point during the stop investigation, Eric Jones ingested a controlled dangerous substance. Jones was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Possession of Crack Cocaine
*Obstruction of Justice

Erick Rena Jones remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing. Tyjai Jones was cited for No Driver’s License and Speeding, 78/55 mph Zone and released.
