TRAFFIC STOP / DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
MARK ANDREW RENTROP, JR.
AMELIA – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Mark Andrew Rentrop, Jr., 30, of 349 Highway 663, Bayou L’Ourse, LA on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop late Saturday evening on the LA 182 Frontage Road in Amelia.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Mark A. Rentrop, Jr.
The deputy conducted an officer / violator interview and at its conclusion decided that additional investigation was warranted. At some point, Mark A. Rentrop, Jr. acknowledged the presence of drug paraphernalia inside of the vehicle. Those items were seized. During a pat down search of the person, Mark Andrew Rentrop, Jr., a quantity of suspected Heroin was recovered.
Mark Andrew Rentrop, Jr. was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of a Schedule I Drug – Heroin
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Turning Movements and Required Signals
Mark Andrew Rentrop, Jr. remains incarcerated with bond set at $50,000.
