TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG / GUN LAW VIOLATIONS

GRAND BAYOU – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Devin Devon Clay, 33, of 221 McKinley Street, Houma, LA, on felony drug and gun law violations, arising from a traffic stop on LA 70 near Grand Bayou on Saturday afternoon.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed an eastbound vehicle on LA 70 commit multiple traffic violations and executed a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Devin Devon Clay and conducted an officer / violator interview. The deputy noted a strong odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The deputy conducted a criminal records check and determined that Devin Devon Clay was a prior convicted felon.
The Deputy requested consent to search the suspect vehicle which was granted. The deputy searched the vehicle and did seize suspected marijuana, a single dose of Adderall without a prescription and a firearm.
Devin Devon Clay was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Adderall
*Speeding
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
Devin Devon Clay remains incarcerated with bond set at $55,000.
