TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG / GUN LAW VIOLATIONS

PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of three people following a traffic stop near Plattenville, LA early Friday morning.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of the violator vehicle. At that time, the driver was identified as Ijah Baptiste, 26, of 101 Anthony Drive, Thibodaux, LA. The deputy also identified two passengers in the vehicle as Treandre Lavante Theriot, 24, of 572 Isle of Cuba Road, Schriever, LA and Skyla Shelby, 19, of Pear Street, Thibodaux, LA.
The deputy interviewed the driver and both passengers. At some point, it was determined that Treandre Theriot was in possession of marijuana and was placed under arrest. Consent to search the vehicle was obtained and during that process, three firearms and illegal narcotics was seized. As a result, Ijah Baptiste and Skyla Shelby were also arrested.
All three were booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Skyla Shelby
• Possession of Marijuana
• Possession of MDMA
• Possession of Cocaine
• Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Treandre Lavante Theriot
• Possession of Marijuana
• Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Ijah Baptiste
• Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
• Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
All three suspects remain incarcerated pending bond hearings.
Investigators also seized a significant amount of U.S. currency.
