TRAFFIC INCIDENT – PURSUIT – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS, KIDNAPPING – I.C.E. ARREST

BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Adam Leroy Hunt, 37, of 129 Highway 401, Napoleonville, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from an attempted traffic stop turned pursuit which began near Belle Rose on May 23, 2023.
On the date in question, a uniformed patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. detail observed a vehicle on LA 1 near LA 999 commit multiple traffic offenses and attempted a stop of the suspect vehicle. The driver continued on, engaging the deputy into a pursuit situation. The suspect traveled south on LA 1 and eventually crossed over to LA 308. The suspect continued on and eventually turned onto Spur 70, traveled into Ascension Parish and crossed the Sunshine Bridge. The suspect turned onto LA 44 and at some point, deputies discontinued the pursuit which had eclipsed speeds of 130 mph.
Through investigation, deputies learned that the driver was Adam Leroy Hunt.
During the pursuit, the driver tossed several items from the vehicle. Deputies were able to recover a quantity of methamphetamine.
Deputies believe that a passenger in the suspect vehicle was being held against his will and was not allowed by Adam Leroy Hunt to exit the vehicle.
Warrants were obtained for the arrest of Adam Leroy Hunt. The suspect was arrested in East Baton Rouge Parish on June 27, 2024. Hunt was released to the custody of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on July 2, 2024.
Adam Leroy Hunt was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on Charges of:
*Simple Kidnapping
*Aggravated Flight from an Officer
*Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway of Commerce
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine
*Obstruction of Justice
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Tail Lamps / Headlights Required
*Speeding
Adam Leroy Hunt remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
