TRAFFIC INCIDENT – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
JAMISON MICHAEL BEALS, IYANIA JHONAE CAESAR – I.C.E. ARRESTS
AMELIA – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Jamison Michael Beals, 20, of 506 Dore Alley, New Iberia, LA and Iyania Jhonae Caesar, 21, of 2510 Pelican Court, Jeanerette, LA on felony drug charges following a traffic incident on Tuesday afternoon on U.S. 90 near Amelia.
A uniformed patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. detail observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Jamison Michael Beals and engaged an interview of the driver. The deputy noted a pungent odor of suspected raw marijuana emitting from the vehicle.
The deputy also interviewed the passenger, now identified as Iyania Jhonae Caesar.
At some point, the driver advised the deputy that he was in possession of a handgun. The deputy took possession of the .45 caliber handgun.
The deputy requested permission to search the vehicle which was granted.
During the search, a significant quantity of marijuana was seized. Additionally, assorted drug paraphernalia and a quantity of Hydrocodone was seized.
Jamison Michael Beals and Iyania Jhonae Caesar were booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges as follows:
– As to Jamison Michael Beals, he was booked on charges of:
*Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of Hydrocodone
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Proper Procedures on Approach of an Authorized Emergency Vehicle
Jamison Michael Beals was incarcerated and released on a $22,500 bond.
– As to Iyania Jhonae Caesar, she was charged with:
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana
*Possession of Hydrocodone
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Iyania Jhonae Caesar was incarcerated and released on a $22,500 bond.
