TRAFFIC INCIDENT – DRUG LAW VIOLATION

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Brandon White, 29, of 1917 Van Arpel Drive, Laplace, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop near Paincourtville on Saturday.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle in the vicinity of LA 70 and LA 1 with an equipment violation. The deputy initiated a stop of the vehicle making contact with the diver, now identified as Branden White. The deputy noted a pungent odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the person of Brandon White.
The deputy concluded that additional investigation was warranted.
During the deputy / violator interview, White turned over a quantity of marijuana he possessed on his person. The deputy conducted an inventory search of the vehicle and did locate a container of promethazine syrup and assorted paraphernalia.
Brandon White was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Driver’s License Required
*Possession of a Scheduled V Drug – To Wit: Promethazine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Possession of Marijuana
*Equipment Violation
*Detainer – St. John Parish
Brandon White remains incarcerated with a bond set at $5,000.
