TRAFFIC INCIDENT – DRUG / GUN LAW VIOLATIONS

BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jorish Reginald Ester, 41, of 150 Daggs Street, Belle Rose, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from a traffic incident near LA 1 and LA 70 in Paincourtville on Tuesday morning.
A uniformed patrol deputy on assignment observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and attempted a traffic stop of that vehicle. The suspect vehicle attempted to elude the pursuing deputy on LA 1 northbound. The suspect vehicle eventually made its way back to LA 308 southbound. The suspect driver was observed on multiple occasions throwing items from the vehicle’s window.
The driver eventually stopped the vehicle near LA 308 and Dupaty Lane and fled on foot. At some point, deputies observed the suspect throw a handgun into some area shrubbery. The suspect, now identified as Jorish Reginald Ester, was detained then arrested. Deputies located the handgun nearby. During a protective pat down search, deputies seized multiple doses of the drug Suboxone off of Ester’s person.
Deputies determined that the seized handgun had been previously reported stolen in West Baton Rouge Parish.
Jorish Reginald Ester was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Suboxone with Intent to Distribute
*Resisting Arrest by Force or Violence – 2 Counts
*Aggravated Flight from an Officer
*Possession of a Stolen Firearm
*Littering
*Turning Signals Required
Jorish Reginald Ester remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
