TRAFFIC – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – FUGITIVE

AMELIA – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Eric Scott Castagnetta, 35, of 126 Callais Lane, Golden Meadow, LA, on multiple felony charges following a traffic stop on U.S. 90 late Wednesday.

A uniformed patrol officer eastbound on U.S. 90 observed another eastbound vehicle ahead of him commit multiple traffic violations and initiated a stop of the vehicle.

The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Eric Scott Castagnetta, and engaged in an officer / violator interview.

Upon conducting a computer check of the suspect, deputies learned that Castagnetta was a wanted fugitive from Elayne Hunt Correctional Facility with a violent offender status attached. The automobile Castagnetta was driving had been reported stolen earlier this year.

Eric Scott Castagnetta was detained at this time while deputies conducted a walkaround for officer safety as well as inventory search.

During that process, deputies seized numerous types of illegal drugs as well as assorted paraphernalia.

Eric Scott Castagnetta was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Prohibited Acts – Schedule I
*Prohibited Acts – Schedule II
*Possession of Heroin
*Possession of Meth-Amphetamine
*Fugitive – Elayne Hunt Correctional Facility
*Driving Under Suspension
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
*Unauthorized Use of a Moveable

Eric Scott Castagnetta remains incarcerated with a bond set at $140,000.
