PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Chad Jerome Butler, 43, of 400 Adam Hall Street, Napoleonville, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 70 East on Monday evening.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Chad Jerome Butler. The deputy engaged an officer / violator interview. A driver’s license inquiry indicated that Chad Jerome Butler was driving under a suspended driver’s license.
At the conclusion of the interview, the deputy concluded that additional investigation was warranted. At some point, Chad Jerome Butler became non-compliant and was arrested.
Chad Jerome Butler consented to a search of his vehicle. During that process, quantities of Clonazepam and amphetamine were seized.
Chad Jerome Butler was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Amphetamine
*Possession of Clonazepam
*Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence
*Second or Subsequent Drug Law Violation Offense
*Speeding
*Simple Assault
*Possession of an Open Alcoholic Beverage in a Motor Vehicle
*Simple Assault
Chad Jerome Butler remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
