TRAFFIC / DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
CHELSEA ELIZABETH JEAN CANADY, JUDE PAUL COUPEL

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Chelsea Elizabeth Jean Canady, 28, of 323 Emma Jean Lane, Lake Charles, LA and Jude Paul Coupel, 21, of 156 Shadow Brock Lane, La Place, LA, arising from a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon on LA 70.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of the vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Chelsea Elizabeth Jean Canady. The deputy conducted an officer / driver interview. The deputy then concluded that additional investigation was warranted.

The deputy made contact with Jude Coupel and noted behavior consistent with illegal drug activity.

As a result of the interviews, consent to search was requested and granted.

During that search, deputies seized multiple controlled dangerous substances.

Both Chelsea Elizabeth Jean Canady and Jude Paul Coupel were arrested and booked into the parish detention facility.

Charges against Chelsea Elizabeth Jean Canady are:

*Possession of Meth-Amphetamine
*Possession of Adderall
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Speeding 75/55 MPH

Jude Paul Coupel was booked on counts of:

*Possession of Meth-Amphetamine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Possession of Marijuana

Chelsea Elizabeth Jean Canady’s bond is set at $35,000 and remains incarcerated.

Jude Paul Coupel remains incarcerated also with a bond set at $40,000.
