TRAFFIC COMPLAINT – 4TH OFFENSE D.U.I.
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Sergio Hernandez-Ortiz, 49, of 101 Pin Oak Street, Labadieville, LA, on Felony D.U.I. charges.
Deputies of the uniformed patrol division were notified by the communications center of a reckless driver in the LA 1 area of Paincourtville, LA.
A few minutes later, deputies observed the southbound vehicle near Supreme and initiated a stop of the vehicle. Deputies identified the driver as Sergio Hernandez-Ortiz. Deputies noted Ortis to be unsteady on his feet and a strong odor of alcoholic beverage was emitting from his person.
Hernandez-Ortiz was administered a series of field sobriety tests and did poorly. Hernandez-Ortiz’s driver’s license was also suspended for prior violations.
Hernandez-Ortiz was arrested and transported to the Assumption Detention Center at which time he refused a breath analyzer test. A search warrant was obtained to draw blood from the suspect. The warrant was approved and Hernandez-Ortiz was taken to a local hospital and blood was drawn. Hernandez-Ortiz was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Driving Under the Influence (4th Offense)
*Driving Under Suspension
*Operating a Vehicle While Under Suspension for Certain Prior Offenses
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
Hernandez-Ortiz remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
