THEFT, MONETARY INSTRUMENT ABUSE – DEREK MICHAEL STEVENS
BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Derek Michael Stevens, 37, of 3156 Township Road, Donaldsonville, LA, on charges related to a Saturday morning incident at a Bayou L’Ourse business establishment.
Deputies were dispatched to the location in connection with an individual attempting to use counterfeit money at the retail outlet. Upon arrival, deputies were advised that the suspect fled the store running in the direction of Aristle Road. Deputies were able to locate the suspect, now identified as Derek Michael Stevens and detained him. Stevens was identified by store employees as the suspect.
Upon checking with a second nearby retail business, it was determined that Stevens had been in that location and had eaten food products without paying for the same and had left that establishment.
Derek Michael Stevens was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Theft
*Monetary Instrument Abuse
Stevens was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
