THEFT – EXPLOITATION OF THE INFIRMED

PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Brittany Breana Amber Peterson, 29, of 296 Fieldcrest Drive, Thibodaux, LA, on felony charges following an investigation originating at the Pierre Part U.S. Postal Branch.

On November 27, 2019, the Sheriff’s Detective Bureau was notified by the U.S. Postal inspector of a postal service employee who had issued money orders to customers, then redirected the payments to herself instead of to the customer debtors. The customers had been accustomed to getting help from a regular postal employee assigned to the Pierre Part Office. However, that employee was off and her replacement was Brittany Peterson, who was generally assigned to the Thibodaux office.

After an extensive investigation by the U.S. Postal Service with the assistance of Assumption Parish Detectives, warrants were obtained for Peterson’s arrest. She was taken into custody on Thursday and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Theft – Misdemeanor
*Exploitation of the Infirmed

Peterson was released on bond.
