SHOPLIFTING COMPLAINT / HIGH SPEED PURSUIT
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Schavone M. Telfair, 38, of 622 Front Street, Donaldsonville, LA and Dwight Brandon Williams, 38, of 8454 Kingview Street, St. James, LA, following a shoplifting complaint.
On Sunday afternoon, deputies responded to a complaint near Paincourtville, LA, in reference to shoplifting from an area business. Upon arrival, the suspect had departed. Deputies were provided a description of a vehicle which the suspect left the area as a passenger.
Several minutes later, deputies located the vehicle on LA 308 near Belle Rose, LA. As deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off northbound. A pursuit ensued into Ascension Parish. The suspect vehicle and its occupants were eventually taken into custody with the assistance of Ascension Parish authorities.
Deputies located evidence related to the shoplifting incident and subsequently arrested Schavone M. Telfair. The driver, now identified as Dwight Brandon Williams was arrested as well. Both suspects were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail as fugitives from Assumption Parish. Both were transferred to Assumption Parish where they were booked and charged as follows:

*Failure to Appear
– Dwight Brandon Williams
*Passing in a No Passing Zone
*Speeding
*No Liability Insurance
*Expired MVI Tag
*Disregarded Stop Sign
*Careless Operation
*Possession of Alcoholic Beverages in a Motor Vehicle
*Fugitive Warrant from Ascension Parish
*Aggravated Flight from an Officer
Both Williams and Telfair remain incarcerated pending bond hearings.
