SHOOTING INCIDENT – ATTEMPTED SECOND DEGREE MURDER

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Kevin Carter, 55, of 174 Belle Point Lane, Napoleonville, LA, on felony charges including attempted second degree murder arising from a shooting incident in Napoleonville on Sunday, February, 26, 2023.
On the aforementioned date, deputies responded to a residence in the 400 block of Philosopher Street in connection to a shooting. The victim left the scene of the incident prior to deputies arrival. The victim was located nearby and was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by Acadian Ambulance to a Baton Rouge Hospital.
Through investigation, Kevin Carter was developed as the suspect in the shooting.
At some point, the victim positively identified the suspect as Kevin Carter. The suspect left the scene following the shooting and went to his residence.
On Monday, detectives secured arrest warrants for Kevin Carter. He was arrested on Tuesday and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Attempted Second Degree Murder
*Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities
Kevin Carter remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
The male victim is expected to recover from his injuries.
