POSSESSION OF A FIREARM BY A CONVICTED FELON

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Tyrik Fabian Jones, 26, of 218 Daggs Street, Paincourtville, LA, on a felony gun possession charge following a traffic stop on LA 1 north of Napoleonville late Thursday night.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a northbound vehicle commit a traffic violation and conducted a stop of the vehicle. The deputy engaged the driver in an officer / violator interview. During that process the driver, now identified as Tyrik Fabian Jones, advised the deputy of the presence of a firearm in the vehicle.
The deputy retrieved the firearm. The deputy conducted a criminal records check and determined that Tyrik Fabian Jones was previously convicted of a felony, therefore could not possess a firearm.
Tyrik Fabian Jones was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Speeding 41 mph / 30 mph
Tyrik Fabian Jones remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
