ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A STOLEN FIREARM

PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Trent Peter Simoneaux, 31, of 5779 Highway 1, Paincourtville, LA on felony charges arising from a stolen firearm investigation.

On December 20, 2023, deputies responded to a citizen complaint of a stolen firearm in the Bertrandville area. The complainant advised that he realized his handgun was missing sometime in September 2023.

The complainant was able to obtain his ownership documents from the firearms retail outlet in Baton Rouge and provided those documents to the Sheriff’s Office.

Upon receiving the complainant’s ownership documents, narcotics agents determined that the stolen firearm had been seized on October 31, 2023 during the execution of a search warrant at the home of Trent Peter Simoneaux.

A warrant was obtained for the arrest of Trent Peter Simoneaux.

Deputies arrested Trent Peter Simoneaux on Thursday at his home in Paincourtville.

Trent Peter Simoneaux was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm

Trent Peter Simoneaux remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
