GUN LAW VIOLATION – FAILURE TO APPEAR
MICHAEL J. LEWIS
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Michael J. Lewis in connection with a shooting incident near Daggs Street in Paincourtville on October 23, 2020.
On the aforementioned date, deputies and detectives responded to a call in which an unknown individual had opened fire on a parked car and during the process also struck a home with gunfire.
Detectives initiated an investigation and were able to identify Michael J. Lewis as a suspect.
Following additional investigation, detectives applied for and were granted arrest warrants for Michael J. Lewis.
Due to Lewis leaving the jurisdiction, the warrants were entered into the National Crime Database.
On February 17, 2021, Michael J. Lewis was arrested by Louisiana State Police Troop A.
On Friday, Michael J. Lewis was transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center and booked on charges of:
*Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities
*Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
*Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property
*Failure to Appear
*Fugitive Warrant – Ascension Parish
Michael J. Lewis was incarcerated with bond set at $145,000.
