DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE
JASON J. MATTHEWS, SR.
BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jason J. Matthews, Sr., 39, of 178 Friendship Lane, Amelia, LA, in connection with an ongoing narcotics investigation.
Over the past several months, deputies developed information that Jason J. Matthews, Sr. was selling large amounts of heroin.
A lengthy investigation ensued and over the period of that probe, agents established probable cause to apply for a search warrant at 213 Cecilia Street, Bayou L’Ourse, a second address which Jason J. Matthews, Sr. occupies.
On June 1, 2021, narcotics agents executed a search warrant at the aforementioned address and seized drug paraphernalia and suspected heroin. Jason J. Matthews, Sr. is also accused of attempting to destroy evidence.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Jason J. Matthews, Sr., was arrested and booked on charges of:
*Obstruction of Justice
*Illegal Use of Controlled Dangerous Substances in Presence of Person Under 17
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Resisting an Officer – 2 Counts
*Fugitive – St. Mary Parish
Jason J. Matthews, Sr. remains incarcerated with bond set at $125,000.
