SUBJECT: DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – I.C.E. UNIT ARREST
LARRY A. RODRIGUE
PAINCOURTVILLE –Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Larry A. Rodrigue, 39, of 131 B and L Street, Napoleonville, LA, on numerous drug law violations following an investigation and traffic stop late Saturday night near Paincourtville, LA.
An I.C.E. Unit deputy on assignment near Paincourtville, observed activity in the parking lot of a local business which raised suspicion of illegal drug activity.
At some point, a vehicle leaving the area swerved in the roadway. The deputy followed the vehicle and at some point, initiated a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle actually stopped at the home of the violator.
The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as Larry A. Rodrigue. Rodrigue was interviewed and his answers were deemed to be inconsistent with the circumstances at hand. The deputy requested consent to search the vehicle at which Rodrigue agreed.
During the search, a substantial quantity and variety of controlled dangerous substances were seized. A stolen firearm out of Ascension Parish was seized from the suspect’s home, also resulting from a consent to search.
Larry A. Rodrigue was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession with Intent to Distribute MDMA (Ecstasy)
*Possession of Meth-Amphetamine with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Crack Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Possession of a Stolen Firearm
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
During the process, a quantity of U.S. currency was seized, believed to be proceeds of illegal drug activity.
Rodrigue was released on a $85,000.00 bond .
