DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Charletta Richard, 29, of 115 Pugh Street, Paincourtville, LA, on numerous drug law violations relative to an ongoing criminal investigation.

On Friday afternoon, deputies and narcotics agents converged on an area near Paincourtville, after receiving reports of drug trafficking in the area.

Different units closed in on different suspect vehicles at various locations.

A vehicle being driven by Charletta Richard was spotted and agents and deputies followed her through several streets and at some point, she drove off southbound. An investigative stop was executed on the suspect vehicle. The driver, Charletta Richard, threw a container out of the vehicle. The container was recovered and the vehicle stopped.

Based on recovered evidence and statements made by other individuals, Charletta Richard was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Driver Must be Licensed
*Obstruction of Justice
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Meth-Amphetamine
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine

Charletta Richard was incarcerated with bond set at $85,000.
