STACEY R. MATTHEWS, TOMMY WAYNE THOMPSON
NAPOLEONVILLE – Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Stacey R. Matthews, 51, of Iris Street, Thibodaux, LA and the issuance of arrest warrants for Tommy Wayne Thompson, 37, of 410 Willow Street, Labadieville, LA, on multiple felony counts following a traffic stop near Labadieville, LA on Friday evening.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle in the area of LA 308 and LA 1014. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Tommy Wayne Thompson and engaged the suspect in an interview. The deputy then proceeded to interview the passenger, now identified as Stacey R. Matthews. At the conclusion of the interviews, the deputy believed additional investigation was warranted. A K-9 was summoned to the scene and conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle. The K-9 alerted positive for the presence of illegal narcotics.
At some point, the deputy attempted to detain both Tommy Wayne Thompson and Stacey R. Matthews. Tommy Wayne Thompson fled on foot.
A subsequent search of the suspect vehicle resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of illegal drugs as well as a firearm.
Stacey R. Matthews was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Synthetic Marijuana
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Stacey R. Matthews remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
Warrants were issued for Tommy Wayne Thompson on charges of:
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Synthetic Marijuana
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Headlights Required
*Resisting an Officer – 2 Counts
