AGGRAVATED FLIGHT – TRAFFIC INCIDENT

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Kyren James Smith, 23, of 115 Fertitta Lane, Napoleonville, LA, after an attempted traffic stop escalated to a pursuit situation.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle southbound on LA 1 in Labadieville commit a school zone traffic violation.

As the deputy initiated an attempt to stop the vehicle, the driver fled and attempted to elude capture, speeding through the streets of Labadieville.

At some point the suspect crashed and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. The driver, now identified as Kyren James Smith was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Speeding
*Resisting an Officer
*No Driver’s License
*Careless Operation
*Aggravated Flight from an Officer
*Failure to Appear Warrant – Assumption Parish – For Possession of Schedule II
Controlled Dangerous Substances, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Simple Criminal
Damage to Property

Kyren James Smith remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
