AGGRAVATED FLIGHT – HIT AND RUN

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Gregory Hills, 36, of 164 Highway 403, Paincourtville, LA, on felony charges related to a January 13, 2020 hit and run in Ascension Parish and a subsequent high-speed chase which ended up in a crash in Assumption Parish.
On the aforementioned date, the Communications Division was alerted to the hit and run by Ascension Parish and alerted deputies that the hit and run suspect vehicle may be headed locally via Highway 308.
A deputy spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop at which time the vehicle sped south on LA 308 with the deputy in pursuit. The suspect vehicle crashed near Paincourtville.
At the time, Rene Starks, 50, of 118 Arcement Street, Napoleonville, LA, a passenger in the suspect vehicle, was arrested on felony drug charges, but the driver, later identified as Gregory Hills, eluded deputies.
Once Hills was identified, warrants were obtained for his arrest. Gregory Hills was arrested near Paincourtville on Sunday and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Aggravated Flight from an Officer
*Resisting an Officer
*Disregarded Stop Signs
*Failure to Report an Accident
*Driving Under Suspension
*No Insurance
Hills was released on a $12,000 bond.
