AGGRAVATED ASSAULT – DISTURBING THE PEACE

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Xaniyah Janae Black, 20, of 6660 St. Jude Drive, Fairburn, Georgia, on felony charges arising from an incident near Labadieville Thursday morning.
Deputies were dispatched to the area of Cancienne Street in reference to an individual refusing to pay for a cab fare. Deputies made contact with the complainant who advised that he had delivered a female to the area from the New Orleans Airport and she was refusing to pay the cab fare.
Deputies located the female and as she approached, they noticed her to have a taser and she was testing it. Deputies ordered her to drop the taser at which time she threw the device. Deputies confronted Black at which time the incident turned physical. Black was eventually arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Aggravated Assault Upon a Peace Officer
*Resisting an Officer (2 Counts)
*Disturbing the Peace
Xaniyah Janae Black remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
