DOMESTIC ABUSE BATTERY, FAILURE TO APPEAR – TRAFFIC – SYLVESTER SMITH
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Sylvester Smith, 35, of 326 Tigerville Lane, Belle Rose, LA, on a felony warrant for domestic abuse battery arising from an incident that occurred on June 3, 2023 at the aforementioned address.
Deputies were dispatched to the residence in question in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the complainant / victim who advised that Sylvester Smith, who was her domestic partner, went into her bedroom and began yelling at her over personal issues. At some point, Sylvester Smith began choking her and hit her several times in the face and head. Smith then allegedly pushed the victim outside the home and into the yard where he continued attacking her. At some point, Sylvester Smith left the area.
Investigating deputies observed injuries consistent with domestic abuse and sought medical attention for the victim.
At the conclusion of the investigation, deputies applied for and were granted arrest warrants for Sylvester Smith.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Sylvester Smith and transferred him to the custody of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on Monday.
Sylvester Smith was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Domestic Abuse Battery
*Failure to Appear – Assumption Parish – Traffic Charges
Sylvester Smith remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
