TRAFFIC INCIDENT – AGGRAVATED FLIGHT – I.C.E. ARREST – MELVIN WILLIAMS, JR.
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Melvin Williams, Jr., 48, of 6887 Highway 308, Belle Rose, LA, on felony charges arising from a traffic incident and a pursuit situation early Monday evening near Napoleonville.
A uniformed patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. detail observed a vehicle with registration and equipment violations and attempted a stop of that vehicle on LA 308 in Napoleonville. The suspect vehicle fled, engaging the deputy in the aforementioned pursuit. The deputy was able to determine that the driver was Melvin Williams, Jr. who had active warrants for his arrest. The pursuit continued on LA 308 into the Belle Rose community.
The suspect turned onto Blackwell Lane where Melvin Williams, Jr. was arrested after crashing his vehicle.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of multiple doses of MDMA and marijuana.
Melvin Williams, Jr. was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges as follows:
*Possession of MDMA (Ecstasy)
*Possession of Marijuana
*Aggravated Flight from an Officer
*Resisting an Officer (2 Counts)
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Failure to Display a License Plate
*Failure to Appear – Assumption Parish – Resisting an Officer
*Fugitive – Ascension Parish
*Fugitive – St. James Parish
Melvin Williams, Jr. remains incarcerated with bond set at $210,000.
