TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG / GUN LAW VIOLATIONS

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Tommy Wayne Thompson, 38, of 410 Willow Street, Labadieville, LA, on multiple felony drug and gun law violations arising from an incident off of LA 308 north of Labadieville on August 25, 2023.
On the aforementioned date, a uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation in the vicinity of LA 1011 and LA 308. The deputy executed a stop of that vehicle on LA 1014 and made contact with the driver, now identified as Tommy Wayne Thompson and engaged Thompson into an officer / violator interview. The deputy interviewed the passenger. At the conclusion of those interviews, the deputy believed additional investigation was warranted. A K-9 unit was summoned to the stop location. The K-9 conducted an open air sniff of the vehicle and alerted positive to the presence of controlled dangerous substances.
The deputy attempted to detain Tommy Wayne Thompson as well as the passenger, Stacey R. Matthews, 51, of 204 Iris Street, Thibodaux, LA. Matthews was detained but Thompson fled on foot.
A search of the suspect vehicle resulted in the seizure of a large amount of illegal drugs.
Stacey R. Matthews was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Cener at the time of the incident and later posted bond of $85,000.
Warrants were issued for the arrest of Tommy Wayne Thompson.
Tommy Wayne Thompson was arrested by the Thibodaux Police Department on November 16, 2023. Tommy Wayne Thompson was released to the custody of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on November 17, 2023 and booked into the Assumption Paish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Synthetic Marijuana
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Possession of Marijuana
*Headlights Required
*Resisting an officer – 2 Counts
Bond on the above charges is set at $170,000.
*Detainer – U.S. Marhsall’s Service for a Probation Violation – Drug Conviction
Tommy Wayne Thompson was ordered held without bond on the U.S. Marshall’s warrant.
