TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATION – OBSTRUCTION

PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Justin Daniel Meyer, 27, of 120 Quail Drive, Labadieville, LA, on felony charges arising from a Sunday traffic stop on LA 70 East.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on LA 70 and initiated a stop of that vehicle. In doing so, the deputy observed the driver toss items from the moving vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Justin Daniel Meyer and engaged Meyer in an officer / violator interview. During that interview, the deputy noted a pungent odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. When confronted, Meyer acknowledged throwing marijuana out of the window.
Justin Daniel Meyer was arrested and during that process began to resist. Meyer was subdued by the deputy. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of additional marijuana.
Justin Daniel Meyer was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Speeding – 77 MPH / 55 MPH
*Resisting an Officer
*Possession of Marijuana
*Obstruction of Justice
Justin Daniel Meyer remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
