TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Chad Michael Canella, 38, of 17215 Fountain Bleau Drive, Prairieville, LA, on felony drug law violations arising out of a Tuesday afternoon traffic stop in Pierre Part.
Uniformed patrol officers observed a vehicle commit traffic violations and initiated a stop of the suspect vehicle.
The deputies made contact with the driver, now identified as Chad Michael Canella and conducted an officer / violator interview. Based on that interview, deputies summoned a K-9 Unit to the scene.
The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and that produced a positive alert for the presence of controlled dangerous substances.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of meth amphetamine and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Chad Michael Canella was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Meth-Amphetamine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Disregarded a Stop Sign
*Turning Movements and Signals Required
Chad Michael Canella Remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
