TRAFFIC STOP / DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Dax Michael Prejean, 26, of 13071 North Spruce Street, Vacherie, LA, on felony drug charges following a traffic stop near Plattenville early Thursday afternoon.

A narcotics unit on assignment observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on LA 308 and initiated a stop of the vehicle. Contact was made with the driver now identified as Dax Michael Prejean and one passenger.

After conducting interviews with both the driver and passenger, a K-9 unit was summoned to the scene. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted to particular areas of the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a quantity of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

After additional investigation, Dax Michael Prejean was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Expired Driver’s License
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Possession of Meth-Amphetamine
*Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
*Probation Violation – Hold for Department of Corrections

Dax Michael Prejean was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
