DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
RENE STARKS, SR.

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Rene Starks, Sr., 50, of 118 Arcement Street, Napoleonville, LA, on felony drug law violations following a traffic stop Tuesday.

Deputies were notified of a hit and run incident which occurred in Ascension Parish shortly before noon. A deputy spotted the suspect vehicle traveling south bound on LA 308. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued on until crashing into a ditch near Paincourtville, LA.

Responding deputies observed Rene Starks, Sr., exiting the passenger area of the vehicle. Starks was not the driver. Deputies detained Starks and then searched the vehicle. A large container of suspected marijuana was located in the vehicle, of which Rene Starks, Sr. accepted responsibility for. Rene Starks, Sr., was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute

Rene Starks, Sr. was incarcerated and his bond set at $2,500.

Deputies continue their investigation of the crash.
