Traffic Stop / Drug Law Violations - Monday, June 18, 2018

SUBJECT:      TRAFFIC STOP / DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS KELLY RENA CAVALIER

 

PAINCOURTVILLE Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Kelly Rena Cavalier, 35, of 135 Rene Street, Pierre Part, LA, on charges related to a traffic stop late Sunday night.

A K-9 unit on patrol observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on LA 70 west of LA 1.  The deputy initiated a stop and subsequently identified the driver as Shelly Graves Saxon, 35, of 10829 Ridgely Drive, Baton Rouge, LA. 

Deputies interviewed Saxon.  Deputies interviewed the passenger which was identified as Kelly Rena Cavalier.  Cavalier appeared very nervous and somewhat combative.

Deputies utilized a K-9 to conduct an open-air sniff of the vehicle.  The K-9 alerted to the inside of the vehicle.  The vehicle was searched and a quantity of meth-amphetamine was seized from the front passenger area.

Due to the vehicle search as well as personal observations by the deputy, Kelly Cavalier was placed under arrest, transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center and booked on charges of:

            *Possession of Meth-Amphetamine

            *Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substances in the Presence of Persons Under 17 Years of Age

Cavalier was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

Shelly Graves Saxon was cited for Failure to Dim Headlights and Driving Under Suspension.
