PIERRE PART - Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jared Paul Rivere, 31, of 103 Randall Street, Pierre Part, LA, on charges related to a traffic stop Monday evening.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed the suspect’s vehicle near Lee Drive and North Curtis Street and observed the driver to be without a seatbelt.

The deputy notified a K-9 unit and the K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of controlled dangerous substances in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and a quantity of suspected crystal meth was seized.  At the time of detainment, Rivere became physical.  Rivere was arrested, transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center and booked on charges of;

            *Simple Criminal Damage to Property

            *Resisting an Officer by Force or Violence

            *No Seat Belt

            *Possession of Meth-Amphetamine

Rivere was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
