Drug Law Violations - Monday, March 5, 2018

SUBJECT:      DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – VERNON P. GASPARD, JR.

 

BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Vernon P. Gaspard, Jr., 43, of 135 Elaine Street, Bayou L’Ourse, LA, on charges related to a traffic stop Sunday morning.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed two bicycles riding on a public roadway.  As the deputy approached the suspect, Vernon P. Gaspard, Jr. swerved across the lane narrowly avoiding a collision.

The deputy stopped Gaspard and conducted an interview of him.  Based on that interview as well as other observations, the deputy did a pat down search of Gaspard in consideration of officer / violator safety.

During the pat down search, the deputy seized drug paraphernalia as well as a quantity of suspected meth-amphetamine.

Gaspard was placed under arrest, transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

            *Bicycle Riding on Roadway

            *Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

            *Possession of Meth-Amphetamine

Gaspard was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bond.
